Vertical Rescue Course
This is a must do course for all outdoor enthusiast that spend time on the rock. Whether your abseiling, or rock climbing, being able to perform a rescue should the need arise can be the most important skill that could save your life or the life of your partner. It is also a vital part of progressing towards a career as a guide or leader.
All situations are different and there are a number of different scenarios that could arise. PACI ensures you have the skills required in a range of different scenarios, and that you are able to perform these skills without assistance.
Whether you are on the cliffs abseiling, rock climbing or working on a high ropes course the PACI Vertical rescue course will be of great value.

Adventures Around Brisbane PACI Vertical Rescue training is scenario based and focuses on achieving real world skills such as:
- the ability to haul an injured/incapacitated person up to safe ground
- the ability to lower an injured/incapacitated person to safe ground
- the ability to perform an assisted abseil descent with an injured/incapacitated person
- the ability to build a solid and reliable anchor system

All PACI vertical rescue training (within an outdoor recreation context) includes the following skills:
- select, use and maintain equipment for working at height
- install an anchor system
- install and operate a lowering system
- install and operate a hauling system
- approach the work position using abseiling techniques
- demonstrate vertical mobility at height
- evacuate a person to safe ground using abseiling techniques
- install and operate a single rope belay system to safeguard a person

The fundamentals adhere to a strict guideline outlined by PACI. All Instructors are trained with the latest techniques from PACI.
Adventures around Brisbane ensure that each training session are big enough to allow group training but small enough to provide a personal touch and one on one tuition should it be required.

Training Package
- Duration: 5 Days
- Cost: $685 per person
- Enrolment: Must be at least 15 years of age - Speak and understand the English language - Fit and healthy for climbing
- Location: Regular run courses in Southeast Queensland, Australia wide tailor made courses to suit your needs.
- Equipment: You are encouraged to use your own equipment if approved by our instructors. We will lend equipment for the course if needed. Many Australian cliffs are in remote areas and have no facilities. Students should come fully prepared for the outdoors.
- Qualification: PACI Statement of Attainment that is nationally recognised

Rescue training lays a solid foundation of core roping skills and is a mandatory requirement for any person intending on supervising and/or instructing others.
At this early stage of the instructor training cycle, trainees apply their rescue skills within a scenario based context that is relevant to their needs and future aspirations.
Trainees will generally be applying their rescue skills within an outdoor, abseiling, climbing or high ropes context.

Typical Training plan
- Day 1: Equipment, knots, anchor systems, abseiling skills, improvised descending systems, descending with a heavy pack
- Day 2: Vertical mobility skills (ascending, change overs, knot bypass), retrievable abseil system, using an improvised harness
- Day 3: Assisted abseil, lowering systems, suspended patient extraction, mechanical advantage
- Day 4: Mechanical advantage systems (continued), accident scenario practice
- Day 5: Revision of skills, final assessment (accident scenario requiring a range of skills)
